THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church head H.B. Aboon
Mor Baselios Thomas Ist Catholicos, 33 Metropolitans and priests
will observe a fast in front of Secretariat from Monday in protest
against the denial of justice to the church.

Athanasius Elias Metropolitan told a news conference here on
Saturday that they were denied permission to enter chapels by the
Indian Orthodox Group (Metran Kashi) even in areas where they were
in majority. "The coming days are important for the Christian
community and it is our right to enter our churches," he said,
urging the government to intervene in the matter at the earliest.
He
alleged that the rulers were showing double standards in the issue.
"Whenever we carried out peaceful protests, the rulers responded
with criminal cases against us. The same people are supporting the
Orthodox Church in their acts."
All
Jacobite Syrian Orthodox churches will observe Sunday as protest day
while a protest convention will be held at Piravom on the day.
